If you've been following my work recently, you probably noticed I've been working on a racing game with tractors. The initial idea was having at least 30 stages of bumpy tracks with lots of obstacles.
It's been several months since I started developing it, so I already have lots of screenshots and an early in-game video.
You can check the video of one of the first stages here:

To design the levels I made a basic level editor to easily create and position elements within a stage. I already made several of those. Some have physics attached to them (crates, jars, vegetables, barrels...), others are just normal sprites (grass, trees, animals...)
The driver (I call him Sawyer) can fall off the tractor if you put too much stress on him. So rough landings and crashes can make him fly. One of the six upgrades increases his grip though, so you're able to jump higher and further without the risk of getting injured.

Your best distance or time (if you reached the end of the stage) is saved and the next time you play against your own ghost. I spent a few days to make it work smoothly as the ghost was always jerky at first which was really annoying. I almost gave up on it.
The game has already over 40.000 lines of code, although 16.000 of those are level definitions.
To recap what's been done so far:
- the main menu
- the game scene
- 101 in game objects
- 3 tractors
- upgrade system
- several effects (mud splash, dirt, eggs, honey and jam on your screen, explosions etc.)
- 23 complete and playable levels
- all sorts of dialogs (exit, quit, pause, buy...)
The TODO list:
- more levels and objects
- probably another tractor
- music and sound effects
- loading screen
- settings (players should be able to switch off some of the elements to improve performance)
- integration with google play services (leaderboards and achievements)
- bonuses for stunts
- prices for upgrades (they're just some random numbers for now)
- obviously lot's of testing and bug fixing.
